6 Natural Home Remedies for Canker Sores

The canker sores are a modern plague. Their cause is unknown, they are just mysteriously painful spots that show up out of nowhere or when you bite the inside of your cheek.

They start as a simple red patch on the inside on your mouth, but can grow to be a  big problem for you if they get inflamed or develop white spots in the middle.

Good thing that nature has many remedies that can help heal these sores in no time.

Here they are:

Alum Powder

Place a small amount of alum powder directly onto the canker sore. Allow it to sit for one full minute. Remember, it will not taste good, it is very bitter. Do not swallow! After the minute is up spit out the saliva and alum, but do not rinse with water. Within several minutes up to 24 hours your pain should be completely gone.

The ulcer may stay in your mouth for a day or two, but the pain should be gone. If for some reason the pain does not give it another try.

Like nutmeg and cinnamon, ingesting one ounce or more of alum is considered toxic to humans.

Essential Oils

Use 1 drop of Melaleuca or oregano essential oil, only one drop directly onto the sore

Rub a small amount of honey onto the canker sore, with your mouth open let the honey sit for two minutes. Spit out, but do not rinse. Repeat 2-3 times daily.

Mix ½ tsp goldenseal, ¼ Tsp of salt, and one cup of warm water together. Gargle with some of the mixture 3 times daily.

Chamomile Tea Bags

Soak a chamomile tea bag in water for one minute, after soaking place it directly against the sore for 5-10 minutes. Do this twice daily to help relieve discomfort and to speed healing.

Coconut Oil

Using a cotton swab, dab a liberal amount of coconut oil onto the sore. Try to get a pretty thick layer over the sore. If you feel like you can’t get it to stick melt some down with a little beeswax to thicken it.
